According to the settings dialogue (settings -> mail composing -> wrap long lines at), long lines should become wrapped after 72 signs.
But: Whenever I compose a plain text e-mail, long lines do not become wrapped after 72 signs. The receiver of the email gets only one single long line - except I insert word-wraps manually.

Is there any special setting that has to be enabled for the "wrap long lines" function to work properly?

The word wrap is just happening when replying. The original text gets a ">" prefix and wrapped to the next line after 72 characters.

The text you write is not wrapped. This should be done by the recipient's mail reader.
