Hi all,

Quick question.
I would like to install a custom webmail client, that connects with the actual kerio mailserver somehow. For example, an existing webmail app such as http://www.squirrelmail.org/

This is not because I think the Kerio webmail sucks, and I think the squirrel one is the best. But more because I want to customize and combine it with an existing webbased tool we're using in the company.

Any idea if it's possible... and if there is any documentation available to set-up your own webmail client using the kerio mail server?

Thanks alot.
Cheers

Squirrelmail is just an IMAP client with a web interface. Install Squirrelmail somewhere and configure the server to use the IMAP server on KMS (its fully qualified hostname) instead of localhost. Configure SMTP just like you would configure any other IMAP client.

Thanks for your answer.
Maybe Squirrelmail was not a good example, as this is indeed as you mentioned IMAP. But POP would be better in my case. I.e. Postaci webmail, seems like it can handle it. Would this also be possible to set up with KMS?

If so, would be great if you could point out a link where I can continue my search to make it happen. Thanks in advance.

I haven't heard of or used Postaci Webmail, but any email client supporting IMAP or POP3 - browser based or not - should be able to fetch mail from KMS. One way or another.

Roundcube (www.roundcube.net) is quite nice as stand-alone web client. Probably not yet ready for critical production environments, but for smaller non-critical setups very usable. It does need an IMAP server as back-end though, if I understand correctly. I have no experience with Squirrelmail, but it's well documented and should be adaptable to most environments.
