I have a
Quad Intel Xeon processor 2.6 Ghz,
4 Gb DDR-ECC Ram,
4 x 500 Gb sata-II Raid 5 Hd
on Windows Server 2008 R2

and Kerio Mail Server 6.7.1
I have 1200 users on server (pop, pops, imap, imaps, smtp) and Kerio is very very very slow....
1200 users are a limit for Kerio Mail Server ??
How can i improve performance?

KMS performance is usually directly tied to the speed of your drives. RAID 5 is notoriously slow writing because of the striping, especially when it's a lot of small files being written (like lots of eml files). You should see a big increase in performance putting the mail store on a RAID 10 volume.

I agree that kerio performance results directly from the Hard disk performance. I had those problems too and the system became frozen (mainly when users folders became larger and larger, or when somebody posted big attaschment files in any public folder).

Everybody say that RAID 10 is better than RAID 5, but also SATA HD performance is generally poor (bacause most people have 7200 rpm SATA disks).

I finally moved to a 15K SAS RAID 5 arrangement, with its own controller card and no more problemas at all. Why still in RAID 5 and not in RAID 10?: because SAS HD capacity are still lowcompared with SATA, available slots limitations and SAS HD are far more expensive than SATA.
