There seems to be an issue with Windows 7 & 2008 R2 Server changing the date modified to the current date/time you view the .eml files in Windows Explorer.

Microsoft does not currently have a fix for this issue. It is somehow related to Windows Live Mail in Windows 7. Unknown why it happens on a clean server installation as of yet.

The fix is to delete this registry key:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio n\PropertySystem\PropertyHandlers

Remember to always backup your registry before you make changes.

Here is a link to a technet question that covers this issue.

You should delete the .eml key below the PropertyHandlers key, not the PropertyHandlers key itself. This would break your OS!

Yes, I should have clarified that better. Delete the .eml key not the PropertyHandlers key.

Solved!!! By a suggestion from Mr. Spigolo, on the Microsoft Support site.

Simply remove the .eml extension from the Indexing Options Advanced page,

in the Control Panel! It DOES work!

Thanks, Mr. Spigolo!
