I've got an issue where installing the Kerio Address Book Config Tool will consistently hang Mac OS X 10.6.x

I've seen this on more than one system - you run the installer, enter an admin username and password and then enter the user's username and password.

It then spins the barberpole for a while and then the machine hangs. No option but to power off.

The mouse is still active, you can click in other windows, but soon all apps will be displaying the beachball and it's all over.

The last two lines in my console logs are:

Quote:
23/04/10 3:10:13 PM sudo[206] root : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/Users/username/Downloads/Kerio Address Book Config Tool.mpkg/Contents/Packages/kms-address-book-config-tool.pkg /Contents/Resources/KMSInstaller/dist/KMSInstaller.app/Conte nts/Resources ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/bin/killall DirectoryService

23/04/10 3:10:14 PM sudo[208] root : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/Users/username/Downloads/Kerio Address Book Config Tool.mpkg/Contents/Packages/kms-address-book-config-tool.pkg /Contents/Resources/KMSInstaller/dist/KMSInstaller.app/Conte nts/Resources ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/bin/security add-trusted-cert -d -p ssl -k /Library/Keychains/System.keychain /Users/amir/Downloads/Kerio Address Book Config Tool.mpkg/Contents/Packages/kms-address-book-config-tool.pkg /Contents/Resources/KMSInstaller/dist/KMSInstaller.app/Conte nts/Resources/../../../../mail.example.com.cer

So, it's either got something to do with killing DirectoryService or importing the certificate into the keychain with the /usr/bin/security add-trusted-cert command.

I will bet on the second line.
Have you created a certificate?
I think "mail.example.com.cer" is the build-in default.. right?

The mail.example.com was just sanitised output to protect my client's name. I have a valid self-signed certificate for the mail server that was created at the time of installation.

I have followed this up with Kerio tech support and here is the answer which has resolved my issue and will be fixed in an upcoming release:

As a work around please try the following:
1. Stop Connect
2. Navigate to /usr/local/kerio/mailserver/tools/addressbook
3. Open the common.py in a text editor tool
4. Remove the line: performOSCommand("sudo killall DirectoryService")
5. Save the file and restart Connect
