Someone forgot their laptop and wanted to check their e-mail using the webmail.

The problem is that when putting in the url (http://mail.domainname.com) it gives an error saying that the page cannot be displayed.

Is there a way to check the webmail while inside the lan?

Yes. Make sure that HTTP service is listening also on on local interface. And configure your network to be able to resolve DNS name for mail.domainname.com and make a connection there. It could be network firewall issue.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Do you have a link handy on how to configure it to my needs?

I am not the person that set up the server (no longer working here) and I have not had the chance to set up a test server to get the hang of everything.

This is not a mailserver problem. You need to call your network administrator.
You can check if the webmail is accessible on local interface if you know the local IP address of the server or DNS name used in local network.

Look at your in-office Outlook (or whatever you use) settings to find the ip or inside DNS name.

Unfortunately I am the "network administrator" now Shocked

Small office and I was thrown into the unofficial position...

Anyways, I have solved the problem of logging in while inside of the LAN. Things work much easier when 3 different people aren't bothering you non-stop over and over...
