I have a user that is not in the global address book. I tried manually adding him, but a while later he was gone. So, I tried sneaking up on it. In his user account settings, I unchecked "publish in global address list" and saved his data. I let a couple hours go by, then re-checked the option and saved again. He immediately showed up in the address book.

Sometime later in the day, he was gone again. Shocked

A peek at the operations log shows this line, once every hour or so:

[16/Jun/2010 12:34:41] {DELETE} Protocol: SYSTEM, User: $gal_service, Folder: #public<_at_>, Subject: "John Doe", Delivered: 16/Jun/2010 12:34:41, Size: 430

So, what can I do to get him to stay in the address book?

Good is better than evil because it's nicer

It depends on server version (which is unknown for us). It usually happens when there is another email address (ie. group email) in collision with user email address.
