After being excited to see that Connect 7.1 supports CardDav on mobile devices, I assumed we'd be able to sync our public contacts to our iPhones similarly to how we can sync our public calendars to iPhones using CalDav. But after installing 7.1 and setting up CardDav on my iPhone4, this method only syncs your personal contacts, which is identical to the contacts sync that we already get using Activesync.

Am I missing something? Is there a way yet to sync public contacts to iPhone's?

In Kerio Connect 7.1 is new feature "Public and Shared Folders in Mobile Devices" it allows to select public/shared folders to be synchronized to mobile device.

This setting is applied only to the ActiveSync protocol.

See link on Webmail login page from your iPhone or login to Webmail and click on menu "Settings -> Folders to sync"

Wow, very nice. I read through the Apple iPhone sections of both the Admin manual and User manual and saw no mention of that feature. Kerio should probably mention it in those sections to direct people to the webmail sections.

It's mentioned in release notes - user guide will be supplemented ASAP.
