The option to include subfolders in a search seems to have disappeared from our system, currently running 7.1.0 build 1792. It was there up until recently, so I can only assume that Kerio took that option away for some reason during a recent upgrade.

Or is there something wrong with our system? I have some mail folders organized by month/year, and if I want to search in, say, all of 2009 then I have to click on 12 different folders to include them instead of just selecting 2009. Very frustrating.

I'm already mad that they still refuse to allow body search; the argument that it's too resource-intensive on the back end is ridiculous - at the very least it should be an option. Stuff like this and calendering shortcomings is seriously making me consider dumping Kerio for something else like Zimbra.

Any feedback on this? I'm still on 6.7.3 and about to upgrade to 7.1p1. Not having the 'Search subfolders' tickbox in the Search dialog is not a deal-breaker, but a downer nonetheless...

I educate my users to user this feature, together with looking for messages with 'Size > xx Kb' to find large messages across all of their folders. This makes it easier to clean up when they are nearing their quota. Having to tick hundreds of separate folders is, well, ridiculous.

The function to search sub-folder is still there in KC 7.1.

In full Web mail, click on the "Magnifying Glass" icon. In the search window, click on the "Browse" button. Then tick any folder you like.

Sure, but is the tickbox 'Search subfolders' also present? See attached screenshot.

It is a bit important to me, since that button is oh so handy and I have educated all my users how to use it when hunting for a large emails...

('Invert selection' is a bit to hardcore for my users, they wouldn't know how to use it. And ticking all boxes is a pain when you want to search through hundreds of folders...)

Thanks for the feedback!

It looks different in 7.1, you have a "Check all" and "Uncheck all" button:

"Check All" isn't the same thing as "Search in subfolders". It really does check *all* the mailboxes, which isn't what I want.

As I said above, I file mail by month-date. If I know a particular message arrived in 2009 then I want to only search the 2009 subtree. Prior to this change I could select "2009" and "Search subfolders" and be done. Now I have to select each month separately.

If I'm searching for something that arrived in 2008 or 2009 then I have to click on 24 little boxes prior to the search instead of 2. How is this better? Why would they remove a perfectly good feature? This company seems driven by developers who don't have a clear idea of how the product is actually used.

Agreed.

While '(Un)Select all' could be a nice feature, it should not replace the 'Search subfolders' tickbox. Both serve quite distinct functions, so it is puzzling me why such a feature swap has been made...

I have asked for the feature back the 'official' way ("Go to http://support.kerio.com and submit a ticket with your feature request.").

I'd suggest all who like this feature do the same...

Hello,

thanks for reporting. The 'Search in subfolders' option has disappeared by mistake during replacing 'Invert selection' by 'Check all' and 'Uncheck all'. The missing checkbox is definitely a bug and will be fixed soon.

Please try to use 'Check all' as workaround. I can imagine more items will be found by this way, please share your experience. I'm sorry for inconvenience.

Thanks for the feedback. Mistakes are unfortunate, but happen, I do not mind it that much.
Good to hear the checkbox will return 'soon' (I suspect this to mean 'in the next version', which is good enough for me.)
