I am using the pre-built virtual machine for testing Operator.
I have a couple of Cisco/Linksys phones, and am also using Telephone for testing with a softphone.

It seems to me that voicemail isn't working. When I call an extension and the call is rejected, or it rings out, I get the lovely British lady asking me to leave voicemail and finish by hanging up or pressing the pound key (and as an aside, while it's lovely having the voice internationalised, in the UK and most of the rest of the world the Number Sign on a phone is known as the hash key, not the pound key - is it possible to get the voice samples changed?)

Anyway, after leaving a voice message and either hanging up or hitting the hash key, when I log in to that user's operator web page, there is no voice mail there. The phone also gives no indication that there's a voicemail waiting to be listened to.

Hi,

I just did a test with a user account set to British English and it worked for me. Are you sure you are looking into the right account?

You may also go the shell, cd to /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default/ and check the extension's directory for contents.

Thanks for the hint regarding pound/hash.

Vladimir

Hi Vladimir,

I have nothing in those directories - here's exactly what I can see:

Strange. Can you send me your configuration backup? Remove your SIP provider data from Call routing if you do not want to share it with us and then e-mail the backup to me at vtoncar at you-know-the-company-name dot com.

After rebooting my VM and my phones, I went to test it before sending my configuration through and it seems to be working now.

I'm not sure what I've done that would have fixed it so I've emailed my configuration through anyway.

What I am getting now is that if I dial extension 50 to check my voicemail the call is declined. This was also happening previously but I thought it was because I didn't have any voicemail.

Hi,

The fact that you cannot call to extension 50 is caused by the caller ID override. We have a bug that creates a situation when the caller ID can be overwritten even for internal calls. If that happens, you appear as some other, unknown extension that has no voicemail box and thus is not allowed to enter the voicemail application.

The caller ID overriding is intended for situations when you have multiple phone numbers on the external interface. If your extension is 11 but you want to appear as extension 10 when calling outside, you would edit extension 11 and put "10" into the "Override with:" field.

If you have only one phone number on the external interface, it is not necessary to set caller ID override because all internal extensions are "hidden" behind that one number. So the solution for your problem is to set Caller ID back to the "Display" option.

That explains it - is there any plans to be able to have a single number specified for Caller ID override yet still be able to access voicemail through the phone?

Turning off the CID override I can now access voicemail - I just need to work out what the password is!

Hi,

Just open the edit dialog for the user - the voicemail PIN is on the second tab ("Extensions").
