Hi,

How often do you guys rotate your logs?

After a log is rotated is it still available through the Kerio interface or do you need to go to the raw file?

Thanks,

ft.

We have the setting of keeping 5 log files per category. The file is rotated when it gets more than 10 MB.

Once a file is rotated (e.g. spam.log ==> spam.log.1) it is not visible in the Kerio interface any more, you need to access the raw file.

We rotate them once per day and keep them for 60 days. While it may seem silly to keep a lot of old logs around, we've done it because of policies and legislation. Disk space should be at the bottom of the list when you decide on log rotation.

I've never been a fan of rotating logs on size. You either browse through it and discard it, or you keep it around in case you have to check something out. Nobody knows tomorrow how far back a 10 MB log file goes, and the stuff you're looking for have always just rotated out (according to Murphy).
