What is expected behavior when Kerio receives a legitimate message, not identified as spam, for a recipient that does not exist?

For example a legitimate message arrives addressed to the following address:

jondoe<_at_>smycompany.com

But the correct address for that user is:

john.doe<_at_>mycompany.com

My server seemed to silently accept the message, and not advise the sender that the recipient does not exist. Is this behavior defined anywhere?

Thanks,

ft.

Apologies... such messages to my server are actually bounced with

Diagnostic code: smtp;550 5.1.1 Mailbox <johndoe<_at_>mycompany.com> does not exist

My sending account was filtering the bounces it received to junk. For info, the outgoing bounce emails do not appear to be logged in Kerio Connect.

Thanks,

ft.

The bounce message is generated by sending server therefore Kerio Connect does not see it and thus cannot log it.
But the "invalid recipient" warning message is logged in the security log.
