Hi,

I'm running Operator Beta 3 and we just found that passwords are not necessary when accessing Operator from softphones.
I'm using both X-Lite and 3CX with the same result.

Regards,
Reinaldo

Hi,

If you configure an extension with empty password, the client can register to the extension without a password. But we recommend that you do this only after consideration and in very safe environments.

Hi

We checked this with a HW SIP phone and I think the result must be the same with any phone.

Is your trial still valid? Operator stops generating configuration changes when the trial expires and maybe you still have an empty password in the asterisk configuration. If this is not the case, can you please use the packet sniffer to verify what SIP communication takes place between Operator and your X-lite phone?

Can you send us a packet dump of the communication between Operator and X-Lite?

Is there a simple way to do that? Can you please suggest?
Thanks,
Reinaldo

PS.: I just upgraded to the new release and we can still login using any password (including NILL).

Hi Reinaldo,

Go to System->Network->Advanced and use the built-in packet sniffer.

Hi,
Sorry for bringing a wrong issue. We notice that there are 2 places where you have to enter passwords.
In fact we didn't have insert one on the SIP password and only on the user password. This is a little tricky.
Since we found the solution this is a closed case.
We need a draft manual to help us do the right provisioning next time.
Regards,
Reinaldo

I see. I will ask the documentation team to include a note about this.

Thanks,
