Hello,

I am trying to set up kerio connect smtp server but it does not send e-mails when i choose to send direct with DNS MX-record.

when I set it to relay it to an other smtp server it works perfectly.

my domain name has the following rules
mail.my-domain.nl -> A-record -> my ip adress
my-domain.nl -> MX10-record -> mail.my-domain.nl

i dont know if this is set up correctly or that this is the problem or that the problem is in the router settings (which is portforwarding the needed ports)

could someone help me?

update:

mxtoolbox gives all green lights, even for reverse dns
but still the program gives "Result: delayed, Status: 4.4.1 Cannot connect to remote host"

The host mail.my-domain.nl (188.93.150.26) does not respond on port 25 when I connect to it. Looks like you have a NAT or firewall issue (or is wasting everyone's time by obfuscating your hostname).

Send a mail from your server to twa<_at_>break-left.org and I'll take a look in the logs.

Is the smarthost you can relay through also on your LAN, or is it somewhere on the internet?
Can you telnet to port 25 on 80.203.228.237 (mailserver for the address you tested)?

There is nothing in my mailserver logs at the time you sent your test message.

kerio doesnt have smarthost itself?
(I want to set the whole thing up to self send the emails to the adresses)

In that case i would need to set up a smarthost in IIS (win2k8 R2)?

Your ISP is probably blocking outgoing SMTP (TCP port 25) connections. Try to telnet any mailserver in the internet to verify this.

A smarthost is just a mailserver somewhere you have arranged to relay mail through. Setting up a smarthost on your own LAN makes little sense in your situation. If outbound port 25 is blocked, use the ISP's smarthost like they probably intended you to do in the first place.
