Hi All,

We are busy evaluating Kerio Operator and would like to know of any known free or trial Soft Phones that work with Kerio - we are hoping to demo it for a client by end next week.

thanks

Hi,

The user guide contains configuration examples for X-lite, SJPhone, and Ekiga.

In general, you need to know 3 parameters when configuring a (soft) phone manually:
* the address of your Operator server (to be used as "Registrar address" or "Domain" or whatever name they use for the SIP server address)
* the extension number (will be used as both the "User name" and "Authentication user name")
* the SIP password associated with the extension

Thanks Vladimir,

Came right with the X-Lite internally. Do you know if our SIP provider uses G.729 codec, which the free phones do not include, can Operator talk to the Provider with G.729 and to the phone on another codec to make the call happen? or will the call just not happen if the phone cannot use the same codec?

Hi,

G.729 is only available as a "pass-through" codec, so it's not possible to transcode from G.729 to another codec.
