Is there any way to have a global phone book configured on the Operator server that is pushed out to all provisioned phones?

Hi,

This is not possible in 1.0.X. It should be relatively easy to add if you wanted to pull the address book from an external LDAP server (like Active directory). Many SIP phones are able to search in LDAP.

Is this planned as a future feature? It's one of the main things that my clients are asking for when I'm talking to them about the advantages of VOIP. It's for this reason that I'm installing a Cisco PBX at a client's place later this week, even though Operator would otherwise be a good fit and they already use Kerio Connect.

Is there anywhere to configure LDAP options for phones in Operator, or do you have to configure each and every phone individually?

When will Kerio Connect have a proper LDAP server that can be used by 3rd party applications, rather than just by the Outlook Connector and Apple's Address Book?

My plan is to add the option to supply the address of the external LDAP server to the phones. Later on, we could have some simple LDAP built into Operator.

The LDAP server in Connect is read-only but I guess this should be sufficient for the phones. If you are looking for an improved LDAP, check the Kerio Directory project in the private beta group.

This would be perfect for me. I'd love this functionality. Right now I'm having to go into each phone's interface and enter this information manually.

We do this with an xhtml web page that the phones can access, if the phone has a webkit capable browser, this means you can host the data and edit in on one place without doing anything other than pushing the URL to the phone in its config.

(ex: polycom phone can dial from a tel:// hyperlink)

Snom phones can dial from a URL using

http://username:password<_at_>PhoneURL/command.htm?number=RequiredExtNumber
