Hello all,

I'm looking arround for some firewall software for a starting company, I've downloaded the Kerio Control demo and installed it on a HP server, the server is on a 100mbit up/down line, but when the firewall is on the speed drops dramaticly, uploading doesn't go faster then 5mbit and downloading is about 50, it's not only http or https (orangeweb is disabled) even if I turn off all stuff like anti-spoofing and put a rule in the traffic policy to allow all and disable AntiVirus and other filters it remains slow... when I turn off the firewall all goes fast.

Does anybody have an idea on how to solve this? I tried installing the software on another notebook on my local network (10mbit up, 120mbit down) and then also the speed drops.

hi,
Disable (set to none) the "protocol" inspector, in the traffic rules (in traffic policy),
this will speedthings up.

That's impossible because I didn't set the inspector for a rule... so the problem is somewhere else, might it be a Trial version thing?

Are you logging the traffic? We have the same speed "issue" here and the reason is that logging procedure cannot keep up with more than 50 Mbit.

For those of you still experiencing this issue on a windows Kerio Control box, this may help.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\P arameters

create a new DWORD value named "Tcp1323Opts" and give it a value of "3".

This setting modifies the TCP window scaling.

Changes made in the registry will be permanent or temporary.

@Leon,

Do you have still this problem? Because I think the version you downloaded at that moment had some performance issue. Try the latest version. If you got still problems, take contact with one of the resellers in the Netherlands. And how many cards are in your HP server (which server type)?

Since I've disabled the logging the issues are fixed a little, but the 100Mbit up/down is never reached on the HP server. We are currently looking for another solution as firewall, probably hardware.

I will give the registry change a test though;)

@Leon,

I can help solve this problem or give advice about Control. If you want to change then use Kerio Software Appliance (the linux version) on a new system. We are one of the Certified Control Resellers in the Netherlands.
Give us a call, we are reacheable from 8:30 local time.
