So it seems that the Kerio Connect Admin Console is completely gone with 7.2; it's not even an option in the download archive (unlike previous versions):

download.kerio.com/archive/

And if I reinstall the admin console for 7.1.4p1, it won't work with a 7.2 server.

This really is a pain in the ass. The web console is slower, is always timing out requiring a full login (rather than simply reconnecting), and it's really inconvenient. I have enough browser windows open as it is, and it was MUCH easier to use the administration app. This is a MAJOR source of frustration now. It's one thing to offer a web console & even to encourage its use, but it really sucks to be forced to use it.

There are currently 238 votes for "bring back the admin console" in the "Suggest Idea" forum.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to add your vote to the pile.

I wouldn't mind the web admin console but viewing logs is not very good. I end up using Console on Mac OS X.

Please, make the console available again as it was. The web console is a mess.

Can anyone tell me how I register for this feedback forum?

Edit: And as if by magic, I get an invite. Very Happy

Edit: Strike that last comment, still don't have access to add my vote. Sad

Ironically (in this case), you get there from the web admin console! From the main page of the console, click on "Suggest Idea."

I too would like to add my vote to bring back the Stand Alone Admin Console - However when in the Web Admin and I click Submit Idea - A login page appears, I try to login (I put in a username and email) and the window disappears and nothing else happens. Further attempts to "Submit Idea" are met with nothing when I click the button (Even closing the browser and reopening did not fix)

I add my displeasure at not having the option to use the Stand Alone Admin Console and being forced to use the Web Console. Do not like it at all!

I second that. Really like the Admin Console. As we don't use Mac Outlook 2011, we will stay on 7.1 and use the Console.

I really hope, Kerio will bring it back.

@sdmactech - I think the "Suggest Idea" does not work in the latest Safari 5.0 and you need to use Firefox on a Mac.

EDIT - scratch that. I see the same behaviour in Safari and Firefox if I sign out of the feedback site and try to sign in again. If I click the "Suggest Idea" button on the web admin I get logged in straight away though.

It works for me with latest Safari 5.0.5
Check if "Block Pop-Up Windows" in browser is off.

Can anyone list what improvements would make the web console a more desirable solution?

I would love to have my column arrangements in list view remembered from session to session.

Browser-based admin has some benefits over an app. It seems funny to me that all those votes are spent on "bring back the admin console" instead of voting for "please add feature X to web admin." Of course, to each his own, um, vote.

Cheers

Another vote here for bringing the old console back. I just upgraded to 7.2 from 7.1 and discovered I can no longer use the old console.

I submitted ticket DZA-381029 a year ago about the Web console login being vulnerable to cross site scripting attacks. Kerio confirmed to me this was a known issue and that is was being worked on. Due to this our server was failing its PCI compliance security scans and I was forced to firewall off the Admin port.

Kerio informed me that the work around was to use the non-web console:

Quote:
If Kerio Connect is behind a firewall then do not open port 4040 through the firewall. If you need to administer Kerio Connect remotely then use the non-web version of the Admin Console. The non-web version uses port 44337 for TCP and UDP and, since it does not use a web browser, it is not vulnerable to this cross site script attack.

This ticket has still not been resolved a year later and now the stand alone console has been completely removed. This makes 7.2 not an option for me. I will watch to see if either option is resolved or have to consider another mail solution. I will be downgrading to 7.1 until then.

Hm. I'm not sure what happened in eSupport system that you've not been notified about this. Reported problem has been fixed in Kerio Connect 7.1.0, 11 months ago.

The console officially disappeared (ie. from the main Downloads page) a while ago, but it was made available in the Archive. But with 7.2, it has disappeared from the Archive as well.

One other way that the web console makes me crazy is in the Message Queue. Whenever I try to resize a column (eg. to see the full error/status message or full set of addressees), there's a limit on how far I can resize them to (usually too small) & they just get reset to their original size when the view refreshes. Maddening.
