Hi All

Wondering if anyone has any experience with postfix mailserver. I am migrating from Postfix to Kerio and will be move a large amount of users over gradually over several weeks.

My mail will be delivered directly to Kerio which will forward it to the postfix server if the user does not yet exist in kerio. This is fine for incoming mail.

Users on the old server will still need to communicate with those on the kerio server, when postfix receives an email for a user that has been migrated as their account does not exist on the postfix server their mail will be returned with "user unknown" What I really need to do is somehow tell postfix to just send all mail that it does'nt know about to kerio and let it deal with it.

I can then create a rule in kerio that removes any mail that it also does not know about thus avoiding endless loops.

If anyone has any ideas on how this can be accomplished in the postfix config files i would be muchly grateful.. Smile

You can create an alias for the migrated users in your postfix alias file to point to the kerio server.

For example, if your kerio server host name is mykerioserver and your domain is you can add the following for the migrated user john.doe to the postfix alias file:

Then run postalias

Thanks for your reply.

Just for completeness incase anyone else comes across this thread, i managed to find a much simpler workaround than having to touch the Postfix mailserver at all.

All clients were configured with one DNS name for smtp and one for imap. for example SMTP settings were pointed at and imap server was pointed at

By changing the DNS entry for to point to Kerio i now get all email sending via kerio and not via the old server.

All this without having to touch the old server.
