I was notified yesterday that the invitation acceptance reply emails sent from iCal to one of our clients running Lotus Notes is crashing the mail server. They are running Domino 8.5.2.

Apparently the invitation acceptance is hanging in their mail server causing the CPU to spike to 100% and never being delivered to the end users mailbox. Eventually, the Domino server crashes.

Has anyone heard of similar reports?

We know about bug report filed for Lotus Notes.
It would be great to get that reply email so we can investigate it too.

I am attaching the test invitation email that caused the Domino server to crash. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information to help.

It's definitely bug in Lotus Notes, there is reply from Lotus Notes techsupport to another customer:
"The issue is fixed in 8.5.2 FP3, which won't be available for a few months.
Only other option is a hotfix (not immediately available), or deny mail from that sender so it can't hit the router."

It's a bug/hole which must be fixed in Lotus Notes server.

Thank you for the response. I will pass this information on to my client so they know that a fix is coming.
