Guys we have a remote worker that sends to our domain .swf files for banner projects ..He zips them and sends from gmail, but sophos will not pass them through .. Getting flagged at the antivirus log as:

Antivirus check of mail from <remote<at>> to <name<_at_>> cannot be performed: Corrupted file

The files are ok, and ive also checked the attachment filter .. is adding an additional rule for allowing .swf files a bad thing ? I believe the filter cant understand what an .swf file is so in its ignorance just decides better to deny ..?
Anyone seen anything similar with other extensions ?

Could it be the remote worker is also password-protecting the zip? In that case, the server can't open the zip to virus-scan it's contents and will assume it's corrupted instead of letting it through...

I believe you can turn that behaviour off, but for security-purposes I would not recommend that

You can configure this on the AV config page:

"If a part of message cannot be scanned (e.g. encrypted or corrupted file)

- Deliver the original message with a prepended warning

- Reject the message as if it was a virus"

In your case, you would have to tick the first option.
