I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if this isn't supported.

In Kerio, I've created a group, assigned an email to it and then added a few email addresses to the group.

On Mac OS X, I've configured (using the tools) Address Book and iCal to connect to Kerio.

1. I can see the email group in Address Book as a single contact, but I can't see what addresses are in the group. Is there a way to do this?

2. In iCal, if I invite the group the notification system does not work as expected as the group email list isn't expanded to represent each email in the group. Is there a way to do this?

If neither of the above are possible, is there a workaround where you can create a group, such as sales<_at_>example.com but have Kerio return the members of that group when program like Address Book and iCal attempt to resolve the list?

Seconded - group expansion or, at the very least, proper notification support for groups would be extremely useful.

I'm taking heat with my client on this feature....

This client is 100$ iCal, AddressBook and Mail

How do they invite xyz team to a meeting?
They have to invite each person individually.
This takes a number of steps for a very meeting-heavy environment and leaves room for error (forget members or accidentally invite wrong people).

The only other option I can find is to create a personal 'Group' in address book.
Add users to your group.
You can then select-all users in that group, command-c, then paste into ical invitees.

I imagine most of this is a limitation of iCal.. so not blaming Kerio. But I am looking for any creative solutions...???

Maybe I should create a public folder (contacts) for each group and place the members in the public folder. This would allow for the select-all, copy/paste trick.
Seems like an ugly work-around though.

Any other ideas?

I am finding that inviting a group to a meeting does not work either.

I get a bounce message as follows:

Original-Recipient:
Final-Recipient: rfc822;/caldav/groups/mydomain.com/itadmins/
Action: failure
Status: 5.1.1
Diagnostic-Code: SMTP; Mailbox does not exist

I have Kerio server 7.3.2.

I am using OS X Open Directory on a different server for directory services.

I am using iCal on OS X 10.6 and 10.7 clients.

Please can someone confirm whether inviting groups works or whether I should look in another direction.

Thanks,

ft.

CalDAV account in iCal can work only with CalDAV server defined in the account. Ie. it is not possible to add contacts from Open Directory as invitees to CalDAV account from Kerio Connect (and vice versa). This includes also groups.

Please configure iCal and Directory Service utility on your Mac to search contacts only on Kerio Connect server. Scheduling is possible only through email addresses, i.e. you can invite user group from Kerio Connect only it if has an email address assigned.

Yes we can invite a group that exists on the Kerio Connect server in good order.

But when individuals within the group reply, the replies do not show on the original, 'master' calendar event.

For example, we have a group to send email to everyone in the company... all<_at_>mycompany.com

If we send an invitation to all<_at_>mycompany.com and individuals reply, the replies are not represented.

The only way is to invite each person individually which is clunky (I am still on 7.4.3 - perhaps this has changed?)

Thanks,

ft.

Any update on this?

Inviting a Kerio group address to a meeting, in both iCal and the Kerio Connect web client, results in a single email/calendar invitation to the group address, rather than an individual copy to each member.

We're on KC 8.0.2.

In such case each user (member of the group) gets the same copy and can accept/decline the event. Is there any advantage for you in sending duplicate copies? What is the use case for this?

I think the problem here (at least on 7.4.3) is:

1. An individual sends an invitation to a Group address.

2. Members of the Group receive the invitation in good order and accept/decline/maybe.

3. The reply (ie. accept/decline/maybe) does NOT update correctly for the original person who sent the invitation to the Group.

Replies to invitations that are sent to individual addresses (rather than groups) do reflect correctly for the sender.

Regards,

ft.
