Hello!

I just have a question about what may be the "ideal" account size in Kerio. We have started switching some of our users (including the owners) to Kerio and they mainly use Outlook with the plugin.

It works great for my account (~300MB). Some of these users have 5 - 12 GB of mail in their account, which causes Outlook/KOFF to take a little time to start up and switch folders. I keep saying that it is due to the amount of email they have in their account, but I don't think that is what they want to hear. I guess they will just have to accept the fact that they need do delete some old stuff, or use the web client only.

I imagine using Outlook with a plugin from any email system would act the same with large accounts. Is there a magic number that anyone would suggest to keep account sizes below in order to keep Outlook/KOFF performance up? I just wanted to get an idea of what I should be aiming/pushing for.

Thanks!

I've managed users with 10+ gigs of e-mail before. Bottom line is Kerio doesn't really change the outcome in this situation. The reason is Outlook, or any e-mail client, will be slow with this much data no matter what server it connects to.

After much prodding and coaching I was able to get the worst cases to realize that turning on Outlook Archiving and letting it do it's job was the best fix. It took some time to show them that with Archiving the messages are still 100% available, searchable and useable. And, they can choose how to archive each folder if they wish to personlize what stays "live" and for how long. And after that Outlook/Kerio was MUCH faster to use and work with.

I will have to try to get them using the Outlook archiving. Their downside to this was that they won't be able to get the archived emails on their mobile devices. But how often do they need to get stuff from five years ago on their phone?

Thanks for the input!
