I'm attempting to archive our old resource items' calendars. We have many conference rooms and a few resources scheduled and the people that manage these resources - receptionist in particular - are having issues with iCal taking a really long time to sync.

I've attempted to create a new calendar in my account in webmail, select the old items (say all of 2010) and move them into my account. Then from iCal I am able to Export and save the flat file. This works, but it emails a rejection to every single person that invited the conference room for example in 2010 - so I've got dozens of users all getting hundreds of declined invitations from 2 years ago.

My main goal, speed up iCal syncing for users that have to see and sync 15+ calendars that have anywhere from 4000-10000 items on them. Since you can't tell iCal to only sync recent items it's attempting to grab the entire list of items.

Ideas?

I had this problem also.

To get around it I just added the resource's email address to the kerio spam filter. After I finished moving all the events around and the cancellations processed through the mail queue, i turned off the spam rule.

Clever...I might try that one.

I wish there was a better - built in - method for archiving. Not just deleting old items.

How do you configure the spam filter? It is my understanding that the SPAM filter only works on incoming messages. When I add my resource calendar's email address to the spam filter, the account can still send notices.

To answer my own question . . . .

1) Under Spam Filter -> check "Enable rating of messages sent from trustworthy relay agents defined in SMTP relay options."

2) Up the Spam rating limit so you don't accidentally filter internal clients. I used 5.

3) Add a custom rule -> From | Address | resource@email | reject

Apply changes and start deleting events. Check the spam log to see it working.
