Last night I upgraded our kerio connect from 7.1 to the latest version (7.3.1 patch 2). The upgrade process was successful, all client's outlook 2007 got all emails. (full sync)
However there's a problem with some emails. The accent letters are missing. I think it's a character encoding problem, because in the webmail the body is OK, the subject is wrong, in outlook 2007 the subject is OK, the body is wrong.

For example:
Outlook 2007:
Subject: "spool ellenõrzés, ha valahol 15000 felett van, szólj"
Body: "... gpen..."

Webmail:
Subject: "spool ellenrzs, ha valahol 15000 felett van, sz"
Body: "... gépen... "

I made example PHP program:

mail('test<_at_>test.com', 'aaaaűáééáúőé','bbbbűáééáúőé');

I get this:
outlook 2007:
subject: aaaaûáééáúõé
body: bbbb

webmail:
subject: aaaa
body: ûáééáúõé

So I'm sure this is an encoding problem.

Any idea to solve this?

I recommend contacting our technical support and providing email source for analysis. Make sure that the email is properly formatted.

I wrote to the support and we found what causes the problem:
In plain text emails where the character encoding is not set, the kerio connector 7.3 convert emails to US-ASCII code. Of course no Hungarian characters in this charset.
So I hope in "Patch 3" there will be an option to change the default character encoding, when the email not contains any.

There is nothing to fix in Kerio Connect. RFC clearly states that all text without defined encoding is us-ascii, 7 bit. This problem has to be fixed at sender's side - the email should have correct formatting. Having 8bit characters in email body with no encoding could be identified as a risk and some softwares might event reject or discard the email.
