I read here that you should stop KMS before upgrading. I tried to stop KMS 5.7.9 using both the sudo SystemStarter stop KerioMailServer command as well as the new Kerio Mail Server Monitor stop button. Both do not work. Stop button on Kerio Mail Server Monitor will shut down Kerio it appears for a moment and Kerio Mail Server will start again.

Finally, I just went into Kerio Administration and shut down all the services thinking that way, the updater will not encounter any locked files when it tries to update.

Ran the updater.

Now, I cannot log in with any of my admin accounts. So I have a dead mail server on my hands.

Is it that difficult for Kerio to code the installer to detect a running KMS server and ask the user if he or she would like the Installer to stop the server during the upgrade? Also, should the installer warn the admin if it is about to clobber all the admin accounts?

Have to restore my server to last backup.

Bad, bad, bad move. You should have read the documentation plastered everywhere KMS 6.0 is mentioned. The KMS 6.0 beta is NOT for production use. It's very beta (although stable in my testing experiences) at this point. Kerio offers no tech support (this fact is plastered everywhere, too) at all the for this beta.

Again, you can't justifiably blame Kerio here. It's a beta, with the aforementioned tags plastered everywhere.

A clean install and restoring the cfg and mail spools *should* work. Good luck to you.
