Apparently, sharing a calendar with another user gives that user the ability to send email as you.

I have spoken with support and understand there is now way to restrict this from the server side.

my problem is that users are accidentally changing the "From:" field on the new message in Outlook 2011. it's right next to the "To:" field and problems are arising.

Has anyone found a way to remove that field from Outlook?

In Outlook 2010 after creating a new e-mail click on the options tab on the ribbon. There's an option here to switch the from field on and off along with BCC.

I'm not a Mac user so I'm just making a massive assumption that MS didn't bother changing the UI that much!

thanks for the reply, but unfortunately it's not there. i think this "porting of the code" was more of a re-write from scratch than usual.

thanks anyways.

We have found a way to prevent a user to change the from field, however off course it is not supported / allowed by Microsoft. If you right click on Outlook 2011 and select "Show package contents" then go to Contents/Resources/en.lproj there is a file called "MessageComposeView.nib

you can open this file using "Interface Builder" application included in Apple Xcode. What i did was create a button on top of the from field.
that way when the user click on the from, message is displayed and nothing happens.

downside is prob. after update of outlook you have to do this again...

It is in the installed application, so first install Outlook then follow the path from the previous post. Hope Microsoft will resolve this design flaw.
