Have been running IMAP KC on linux for one month. During that time some users have reported that when they read legit email and close the message it disappears from the inbox and is moved to the junk mail folder. This only seems to affect Outlook 2007 clients.

I do not use the Outlook connector for any of these clients. I have now just turned off ALL spam filters to see if problem persists.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, was the culprit narrowed down to one or two of the KC spam filters?

Thanks

Custom rules on Kerio Connect are applied only when delivering the message. I guess these messages were moved by some rule in Outlook.

I guess this doesn't happen when the user does the same in Webmail (reading and closing the message). So the issue definitely is with Outlook and not with the KC server based rules.

Outlook has its own Spam mechanism, you should try to switch that off and try again.

I did turn off Outlook junk filters on some machines to test if Outlook was the culprit, which I suspect.

Still, Outlook never demonstrated this behavior when we used a hosted POP provider. The moment I switched us to IMAP and hosted in house was when the problem randomly cropped up, so I thought somehow somewhere KC maybe had marked the message so that the mere act of reading an email would trigger a move of that email to junk. And this only occurred on Outlook for Windows clients and not for Outlook for Mac or Apple Mail.

Weird.

I'll post results at the end of the week. Thanks for replies.

You can also check the "Operations Log" to find out why the messages are deleted.
