We've got an Operator system with half a dozen SPA 504G phones, provisioned automagically by the Operator server. When you pickup the handset to start dialing, the timeout before it takes the dial string and feeds it to the system is fairly short.

How can we lengthen that period?

The automatic provisioning does not touch the dialing timeout on the Linksys. So it uses either the default timeout or whatever value was configured previously. You can check/change the value in the phone's web interface under Admin login - Advanced - Regional. To login to the web interface on the phone, you need to know the provisioning password from the "Provisioned phones" screen in Operator's administration GUI.

The two values that are of interest here are 'Interdigit Long Timer' and 'Interdigit Short Timer'. I guess you will need to increase the 'Short Timer' - it applies when the entered digits already meet one of the dial patterns (the pattern for dialing out, most likely).
