Hello,

as Kerio now decided to stop support without charging, here a technical problem which someone may know a solution for.

The fulltext search engine is not starting.
The error log says:
[01/May/2012 15:40:23] FullTextServiceImpl.cpp: SEVERE Connection timeout, mailserver is still not connected. (FullTextServer$3.run)
[01/May/2012 15:40:23] FullTextServiceImpl.cpp: SEVERE storePath is null - user list is not loaded and will be not saved (Users.save)
[01/May/2012 15:40:24] main.cpp: Failed to start fulltext service.

No other errors are in error log. When I try to start full text engine manually, I get simply a pop up window, telling me it is not posssible to start the engine. System is Kerio connect 7.3.3 running on Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS

We are currently thinking of migrating from Google Apps Business version to Kerio - on the other hand would Kerio be the first company which charges us already for presales support... very strange and honestly surprising behavior.

kind regards
Tjareson

Pre-sales support is free: http://www.kerio.com/support/faq
It is recommend to register your trial license before contacting technical support.

Anyway, there are some important information we need to know. Do you use 32bit or 64bit system? Do you use SELinux? What does the debug log for full text service say?

Btw: This error can happen when the full text index path in Kerio Connect Web Administration is set to invalid path or path with non-alphabetic characters. Please verify the path for full text index.

This I've checked already. The path is still the same which was set by the installation: /opt/kerio/mailserver/store/fulltext
The path is also existing on the linux system with the same rights as the store-directory. And the fulltext engine was also running once already.

The Linux-System is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS:
Linux 2.6.18-028stab091.2 #1 SMP Fri Jun 3 00:02:40 MSD 2011 i686 GNU/Linux

I also activated the debug log for the fulltext engine. There are only messages if I completely restart kerio connect. Not if I press the rebuild button. (msgs see below)

Anything else, I could possibly check? This "Connection timeout, mailserver is still not connected" looks a little bit confusing to me. Everything else is running without any problems so far.

kind regards
Tjareson
PS: The licence we registered already, but by the web portal you end up with a ticket for markting-dept or so and there I was kind of bounced... I tried it now directly via the webadmin-client...

Upgrade to 7.4.0 solved the issue. Whatever it was...

Update: actually this issue isn't solved.
It turned out that the fulltext search only starts properly if the whole server will be restarted. If only the kerio-connect service is restarted, fulltext search won't start again.

Do other users have the same problem somewhere? I'm running kerio-connect 7.4.0 auf Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

Hello,

I found where is the problem (I think).
Afer update my Kerio version 7.3.2 to 7.4.3, the fulltext engine didn't work neither.
To solve this:
1- I change alternative port of HTTPS in Panel Administration.
Configuration -> Services -> Secure HTTPS : Change 4041 tcp port to another tcp port (example : 8041).
2 - Then, I restarted the Engine Fulltext (Panel Administration : Advanced Options > Store Directory -> Check 'Enable Full Text Search'.

Atfer this : Fulltext Search OK

In my opinion, The service fulltext listens on the same port as http secure (I don't know why!!!Don't ask me, maybe kerio supports can answer us...).

In Error.log, i saw :

"FullTextServiceImpl.cpp: SEVERE while binding to port (FullTextServer.newInstance): net.BindException: Address already in use/net.PlainSocketImpl.socketBind(Native Method)/net.PlainSocketImpl.bind(Unknown Source)/net.ServerSocket.bind(Unknown Source)/net.ServerSocket.<init>(Unknown Source)/comm.SocketConnectionServer.init(SocketConnectionSer ver:38)/FullTextServer. <init> (FullTextServer:89)/FullTextServer.newInstance(FullTextServe r:94)/FullTextServer.main(FullTextServer:525)
[03/Apr/2013 15:08:21] FullTextServiceImpl.cpp: SEVERE failed to initialize server (FullTextServer.main)"

Hi there.

I suspect it was the linux firewall blocking port 4041, if you are running IPchains or IPtables on the system, it needs to have this port open for it to communicate to the process.

try opening the correct port and trying again please.

I would also raise a support ticket if you still have issues please.
