So, updated to 7.4.0 this morning and immediately got calls about the KOFF update process failing.
This was worse than the usual problems - the update process tries to run but just sits there spinning forever. So I went through the typical cycle of logging off, logging back on, uninstalling KOFF and the updater, log off, back on, then try to install KOFF from a fresh download of the client from the webmail link.
This time, there's a new twist. When the KOFF client install completes, the installer goes back to an install window with "cancel" as the only option. On our systems here, it just sits there stupidly without giving any progress indication. If you click "cancel", welcome back to step one because it completely crashes the install. Outlook throws a cryptic and typically unhelpful error if you try to start it - this despite the fact that both KOFF and the updater service show as being updated in Add/Remove programs.
So, here's what worked:
Reboot the system if you've already tried to update KOFF automatically.
Immediately uninstall KOFF and the updater
Download the KOFF update manually from webmail link.
Run the installer.
Walk thru the installer, click finish.
Installer will go back to a window that has "cancel" as the only option. DO NOT CLICK.
Stop, then restart the Kerio Updater Service
The installer will stop and you can open Outlook from this point.
Hope this helps if you're having a similar problem.
