I'm in the process of preparing a new notebook for one of the office-guys.
I installed Windows, Office and all the other stuff.
Then I wanted to Install and setup Kerio for the user.

Environment:
- Lenovo Thinkpad T420s
- Windows 7 Prof. x64
- Outlook 2007
- Kerio 7.4

After Installing Kerio and setting-up an e-mailaccount in Outlook, Outlook refuses to start.

I tried deleting the mail-profile, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling kerio several times. (always deleted the Outlook-profile first) I also tried it with the AV off. Made no difference.

I put all the screenshots and important information in the attached pdf. Unfortunately, the sreenshots are in german, which I can't change for obvious reasons, but here's a brief translation:

1. screenshot:
- update for kerio is recommended
- you need to upgrade in order to be able to send and receive emails...
- you will probably need to delete your existing profile...
- upgrade now?

2. screenshot:
- cannot open this foldergroup...unexpected error...cannot load KOFMSP.DLL...check if the service is installed and running-

3. screenshot:
- an unknown error has occured...

This article 14512 in this forum didn't work for me.

All the other clients work fine.
Some of them are Win XP, some are Win7 x64.
All have Office 2007 installed.

What version of KOFF are you using from the Kerio website?

hi zebby

I downloaded the newest one I could get: 7.4.0-7098
It still asked for an update as described in the pdf.

Have you tried running it from the 'Windows integration' page on webmail?

No, I haven't. Didn't even know that something like this existed.
I'm not in the office right now, but will try this later on and post the result.

Make sure that Outlook is started at least once before installing Kerio Outlook Connector to initialize MAPI.
Create an empty profile in Outlook with no email. Then install Kerio Outlook Connector and configure email account.

@Pavel Dobry
Thanks for the tipp.
I have always opened Outlook before installing Kerio. At the point when Kerio was installed, an empty Outlook-profile had already existed.

@zebby:
It works!
On the Windows integration page on webmail is an older client (7.3.6199), which works perfectly fine!
Might it be possible that the new client doesn't work with Outlook 2010?

Edit: Thanks a lot for the input!

Edit2: It was definitely an issue between the KOFF and the Kerio-Server. I tried it on another client with the same results: 7.3 works, 7.4 doesn't.

How can I mark this Topic as "SOLVED" ?

It seems your Connect is of version 7.3.6199. According this here is an info:
- 7.4 KOFF does not work with Connect 7.3 so it offers upgrade (it's downgrade actually, of course)
- There is an error in KOFF causing automating downgrade from 7.4 to 7.3 does not work. You must do it by hand (using exe installer).
- Starting in version 7.4, the tight version coupling of KOFF and Connect has been loosen. For details see Release Notes of Connect 7.4

Thanks for the info.
The Kerio-Connect Server is not under my control, it's my hosting-provider which maintains it.
Well, let's hope future updates will work...
