Hello,

iCal does not show any events; just a plain calendar with 0 entries. Webmail shows all entries, as does Outlook 2011 Mac. It started when we added a delegation to that calendar - the calendar showed up at the new user, but was empty.

I tried to reinstall the calendar via Kerio Installer from the login page. Now the calendar was empty on both sides. Then I reindexed the whole mailbox of the user via Admininterface. Nothing changed. Then I stopped the server, renamed index.fld to index.bad. Did not help. Next I made a new user, copied all data to his new folder,
renamed index.fld to index.bad, erased the old user, renamed the new one to the old name. Did not help. Then in Webmail I moved (via right click) all events to a tmp_folder, and dragged all events back to the original calendar folder, as suggested in a KB article.
That did not help too.

All the time the webmail Calendar looks pretty fine, and Outllook shows everything.
It works even in Calendar on iOS on his iPhone.
But iCal is just empty. I made a new account on an other mac, configured iCal etc. via the Kerio Installer - same effect, no events show up.

Since one hour newly created events show up, all of a sudden, but all previous data is not shown, events in the past and in the future. iCal now shows newly created events, but nothing created before today.

Serrver: 7.4.1 build 7267 on Windows Server 2008
Macs: all 10.6.8 with the latest updates (iCal 4.04)(iCal configured as CalDav).
(Outlook: without the SP2)

Any idea what to do?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Jochen

when ical gets hung up here, its typically caused by one or two simple things - bad calendar cache on the user's mac or it doesn't like the data in a particular event (usually due to pasting text in from another app), which causes it to choke on everything after.

I've had luck doing the following:

To rectify the first,
0, backup calendars
1, quit iCal
2, delete ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCal/
3, delete ~/Library/Calendars
4, relaunch iCal, wait for it to sync, re-add delegates and reimport any non-networked calendars

Occasionally, iCal will forget the Kerio Account after this, in which case I re-run the auto-config installer from webmail.

--

To rectify the second,

1, log into webmail.
2, create a temporary calendar
3, right-click on the user's regular calendar and choose to move all messages to the temp calendar.
4, go to the temp calendar and view as a list, then batches of events and drag-n-drop them back into the user's regular calendar. Do this for both the list view and reoccurring list view.
5, once all events are back into the regular calendar, delete the temp calendar.

I found this tip in the forums for any early version of Kerio Connect/MailServer and still use it, though much less so these days. For whatever reason, this copy to a temp calendar then drag back into the real calendar, seems to clean out any cruft causing iCal to get stuck.

hope that helps.

Hello,

Did number One on the testaccount. Nothing changed.

deleted user/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCal/
deleted User/Library/Calendars/
cleared Trash
restarted iCal - nothing.
installed iCal Account via installer from Login Page. nothing.

Even the new events, from today, disappeared now.

???

Thanks for any more tipps!

Maybe you should start with looking into the log files on your Mac to see what errors are written there by iCal.

How did you apply a new delegation? Within iCal, Webmail or Mac Outlook?

Did you try to add another kerio user to the calendar delegation?

Hello,

the new delegation was added in iCal first. After not showing anything at the new delegate, and after that at the user himself (see my first post), we tried to restore
by the means mentioned in my post.

When nothing worked, whether the new account, nor the "Move"-and "Drag back"- trick, I went into Webmail. While in Webmail I deleted the delegation and added it again via Webmail. The delegate deleted his subscription and added it again, after restarting iCal. Nothing changed. Crying or Very Sad

Should we delete all delegations first, even at subscribers side?
Or shall I try again the "move first" then "drag back" into Caendar - Folder - Trick?

I'm running out on options and hope, but need the Calendar working within iCal.

Any help, any tipp welcome!

Yours Jochen

Here's the KB article I was referring to: http://kb.kerio.com/article/i-cannot-view-events-in-delegate d-calendars-when-using-ical-with-caldav-219.html

More things to try, again _after_ making a good backup of the user machine and kerio user folder.

Trash ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCal/ ~/Library/Calendars _and_ ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices -- from the logs you supplied, ical is definitely choking on something in the calendar/event data. Some of that bad data may still be present in the SyncServices folder.

Attempt the procedure from the above KB article.

Try a manual import (non-caldav sync of the calendars) to see if iCal still chokes. From within webmail, right-click on the calendar in question, and choose, Use In Calendar Client. From the pop-up window that results, click on the "Download my calendar file (.ics)" link. Then, try importing that ics file into iCal (iCal > File > Import). Does iCal import all the events correctly? If Yes, I'd re-export the calendars from iCal as an .ics files, then delete the events from the user's kerio calendar via webmail, re-do sync and import the events back into the caldav/kerio calendar via iCal.

Do the same via outlook -- export calendar data via outlook so that you have a backup of events, trash all events in webmail, reimport/re-add events from the outlook backup back into the 'fresh' kerio calendar.

good luck.

Hello Dominic,

Thanks for your kind reply.

Did a test of importing to iCal, after exporting from Webmail, on the testaccount.
That worked so far, all events imported. Could not test syncing, because the user works .

Will proceed tommorrow morning, when my user is offline, even with his iPhone.

Will then save the webmail calendar, export it again, delete all events in Webmail, start syncing via autosetup, then reimport into users Kerio Calendar via iCal.

I will report here, if it worked.

Thanks so far,

Jochen

Hello,

thanks to everybody for their help and valuable information.

The Calendar is working now and syncing again in iCal. Smile

Dominics Tipp did it finally. (His message from 16.July 15:22).

Did everything mentioned in his text, except the Outlook part.

I think that it was something stuck in his SyncServices Folder. Because, after deleting
that folder and imprting the .ics file generated by Webmail, iCal startet to work. Reimporting the data into Webmail via resyncing from iCal worked flawless. All delegates now see the shared Calendar and are able to work with him.

Thank you all for your help.

Gruss Jochen
