we want to enable user auth on our control server via active directory. the control system is connected via vpn tunnel and the system is part of our domain.

when we try to test the auth the request is timed out. in the log we just can find that the auth is running fine, but then the connection is closed an the system says time out.

On our second system we have an lokal domain controller. there it is only possible to test the lokal auth. the auth via the vpn tunnel is timed out.

How can we auth our users via the vpn tunnel connection with our domain controller?

Hello,
surely it's possible to authenticate users using the Active Directory server accessible through a VPN tunnel. I've tested such setup some weeks ago.

Have you tried to specify the AD server manually, instead of using automatic detection? It may help in similar cases.

It would be kind of you to enable 'User database' debug log messages. Then test the AD domain connectivity - the 'timeout' error message is likely to appear. Finally, copy&paste data from debug log here, as a reply to this message.

Thanks in an advance for the debug log.
