Hi,
I have to configure for a company an internal mail server working also for external mailing.
This company has a web site yet (for example: www.holidayvillage.com) managed by other and on which i can't take action, with some mailboxes.
I installed Kerio Connect as a mail server in a pc with Windows Xp (internal domain holidayvillage.local), setting automatic download from mailboxes @holidayvillage.com and redirect mails to local mailboxes <_at_>holidayvillage.local.
So no problems in downloading and redirecting mails but problem, obviously, when i want to send mail out, the domain holidayvillage.local does not exist in internet!
Have i necessarily to register another domain at a provider and using it for internal mailing and outgoing mailing?
Thanks.

The mail domain should not be the same as your internal Active Directory domain!

So the mail domain in Kerio Connect must be

holidayvillage.com (NOT .local)

Then you can send and receive mail internally and externally.

Thanks,
but there is not an internal active directory domain, the lan is a workgroup and the mail domain in Kerio Connect can't be holidayvillage.com.
Holidayvillage.com domain is managed by a service provider and i can't take action in dns record MX redirect.

Still, you need to configure the domain

holidayvillage.com (NOT .local)

You don't need to change the MX record as this is just for incoming mail and incoming mail is working (via automatic POP3 download from the other company), as you stated in your first post.

Sending mail out can be done directly if you have a fixed official IP address, or via relay host of your ISP if you have a dynamic IP address.

Hi France,

"Have i necessarily to register another domain at a provider and using it for internal mailing and outgoing mailing?

The answer to the above question is yes, for outgoing email, but only if you want the external recipients to be able to reply directly to recipients in that other Kerio domain.

If you would like external mail systems to send their replies to the server(s) at holidayvillage.com then you need to make sure that the From and Reply-To headers include the desired recipient at holidayvillage.com. This need to be configured on each email client (webmail, Outlook, etc.).
