Most of the users are using an external email address from gmail to have their email forwarded to the Kerio webserver. I have instructed those gmail users to turn off gmails spam filter so all mail is forwarded to Kerio where we can then filter.

We are currently training spamassassin and it seems to be working "OK", although a lot of spam is still getting through with the threshold set at 5.0.

I would like to introduce Internet DNS block lists. The issue seems to be that Kerio is using the IP that is connecting to our Kerio server (e.g., gmail's sending smtp server for the email that is being forwarded from the users original gmail account) as opposed to the originating IP inside the message headers (e.g., the server that originally sent the email to the users gmail account).

Is there any way to get Kerio to use the originating IP to check against the Internet blacklists? Without such a feature the blacklists are useless in the scenario I am describing above as it is checking the gmail server against the blacklists.

Many thanks in advance

Kerio Connect only checks for the IP that is connecting, so if a mail is sent from GMail, it will only check for the GMail server's IP address. It is not possible to search the headers. As headers are forged easily, it doesn't make sense either.

I would suggest to switch on the Spam filter on GMail.
