If I disable all the spam features from the Kerio admin side of the server, does it still use or respect the User "White List" setting on the user side?

As a user I can log into the Kerio Web portal, and go to Settings -> Settings -> Spam. There is a "white list" box where I can insert e-mail addresses that should NOT be considered spam. If I disable all the spam features on the admin side of Kerio, is the user "white list" still used or respected?

Thanks
KC

If you disable the Spam protection, what sense does it make to have a white list? All mail will come through anyway.

Well, that is my exact question... If I disable all spam protection on the server side, then the white list on the user side is worthless....Are we positive about that?

I have to put together some documentation about how to troubleshoot and isolate issues with e-mails that are treated as spam. We use MS-Forefront for domain level spam filtering, then Kerio for server level filtering, and finally e-mail client rules for the final layer. I would like to completely disable Kerio server side filtering to make the process easier. Forefront catches about 90% of all our spam anyway.

Thanks!!!

Yes, that is true, if you disable all the Spam features, the white list has no effect.

If you have another Anti-Spam solution between the Internet and Kerio, it is clear that this solution (in your case FF) will catch most of the Spam as it can effectively use RBLs, Grey listing etc. It does not make sense to have multiple Spam solutions is a row as only the one facing the Internet is really effective. Also, multiple Anti-Spam solutions make support and troubleshooting very difficult.

If Forefront blocks Spam for you, there is no way for Kerio to have domain white list as the mails will be blocked before they can reach Kerio Connect. But if Forefront just gives the mail a Spam Score and lets them through, a white list will still work.
