Hi there!

My first kerio costumer has a special wish: Both CEO want to have an archive where all mails from all persons are stored for review after the work day. Perfect for the archiv function of kerio!

But since they use outlook 2013 with KOFF this archive should not be increasing all the way. It should show for example two weeks or one month. Older entrys should not be stored in Outlook or be deleted at all (harddisk space!)

Is there a solution for that?

Hi Mike,

If the users are using the KOFF connector then they cannot view the archive folders via Outlook. Archive folders can only be viewed via an IMAP connection or in WebMail, so I would suggest that to look through the archive the CEO should use WebMail and then you do not have to worry about additional space being held on the users machine.

All the best,
Vicky

Hi there!

Sounds good. Today the CEO used first the Webmail and there have not been any complaints.
For the space needed on the server for the archiv any solution? There are only few users but with high mail traffic.

Hi Mike,

The space required for the archive can vary. Normally you can have the archive compress at the end of the time period (day/week/month) and this saves on space but compression has varied degrees on compression ratios depending on if the email is just text or has attachments. If most of their emails are text then the archive should compress down quite a lot but if they send and receive a lot of attachments then the archive will take up a lot room.

You will need to decided what you want to do with space requirements for the archive. A lot of customers have the archive stored on an external or RAID drive to save space on the OS drive.

All the best,
Vicky

Hi there!

All correct. But also the largest NAS has limited space. And the companys should use kerio for several years. So there should be a routine what limit the used space or time of holding the archiv.
