We've been trying out the 8.1 beta but none of our iOS activesync users can connect, looking in the logs it say active sync is not licences

Is this because it is a beta, and we should reinstall 8.0.2

we recently renewed our software maintenance and as it is before May 1 we should automatically get another year of active sync, shouldn't we?

Yes.

While renewing the license, make sure that option for Exchange Activesync add-on was checked on in the store. If it wasn't then you need to contact our sales and they will have to change it manually.

Thanks, we didn't buy it directly, but through Jigsaw24, is it still possible to get it activated

I checked our systems and the license does have EAS extension correctly assigned and the license is valid.
