I created a cf file with some blacklisted domains in it.
Since i've done that, I've taken those rules out of the custom rules list.
Now, other than MAYBE not receiving mail from those domains, is there any way to make sure that spam assassin is actually working with the cf file I created?

Second, can I use a single cf file of say... custom_rules.cf and put in a variety of rules...
say a whitelist_from section, a blacklist_from section, and the usual body, subject rules?

You can enable "SpamAssassin Processing" and/or "Spam Filter" in the debug log, so you see exactly what's happening.

You can put everything in one .cf file just remember that the order they are proecessed is alphbetically. That's why many .cf files are starting with a number.
