We've been trying out the instant messaging server in Kerio Connect 8.1 and it seems to work well, but the client side of things seems to be a bit lacking..

Does anyone have any preferred clients for PC/Android/iOS?

We've tried Xabber on Android, works fine, but doesn't support Video/Audio.
Tried Pidgin on PC, also works fine, but also doesn't support Video/Audio.

Are there any clients that you use that support Video/Audio and work ok?

Maybe Kerio could create their own client that supports all these features... Wink

Hi Michael

In theory any Jabber/xmpp compatible client will work with the new IM system in Connect 8.1.

We've tested a few, such as Pidgin and they work.

I've used Adium, Trillian and others which all connect and work. Its all down to preference.

Best way is to try one of them out.

I hope this helps.

Regarding Jitsi client.. in our tests the client seems to initiate an excessive amount of requests targeted to all iChat/Messages clients (many requests per second) connected to the same server. So keep an eye on network and server performance.

First make sure user have the right to use IM feature in User Access Policy

Second In Spark Client click in Advanced, in General tab uncheck Automatically discover host and port and enter your Kconncet Host\IP Address

Back to login page and enter the following information
Username, Password and Domain name

you should be able to login now

in professional way, I advice you to setup autodiscover the host and port
"Vendula Lucakova" wrote great KB about how to add SRV records in your internal and external DNS server

Good luck

Fwiw, eMClient seems to play well with Kerio connect & has a built-in XMPP client. It handles IMAP, CalDAV & CardDav well, the only thing I've found is it doesn't present public IMAP folders. The developer says it's a server side problem, but I'm not sure, since Thunderbird will show them just fine.

Good is better than evil because it's nicer

I'm using Spark 2.6.3 in spanish.

I connected spark to a Kerio Connect 8.2.4 testing server

Kerio Connect test domain is rolon.biz
Testing user name : grolon

User station is windows 7 with Spark 2.6.3

Spark Main Windows

User Name : grolon
Password : mypassword
Server : rolon.biz (my testing domain name, NO server fqdn or server IP)

Under Advanced Config

unchecked Automatic Discover Server and port

In Conecction Box

Server : 192.168.1.1 ( my server ip)
Port : 5222

That is it.

Thanks

+1 for eM Client and with their latest release it can be connected to Kerio via the Exchange Web Service option making it even easier to configure.

You haven't specified which mobile platform are you interested in. I can give you some tips for iOS.

Monal
Monal looks and works great. The main benefit is that it connects directly to you xmpp server and doesn't store your credentials on 3rd party servers as others do. It is free without ads.

Beejive IM
Beejive is my second choice. Solid and stable client. Not connecting directly to your xmpp server but through their servers where your xmpp session is stored and managed. Paid. Exists for all major mobile platforms.
