Testing Kerio Control Virtual Appliance on ESXi 5.1

Trying to add a 2 terabyte drive to the virtual machine configuration. After logging into the server via SSH and running fdisk -l it returns this:

root@kerio-connect-appliance:~# fdisk -l /dev/sdb

Disk /dev/sdb: 2199.0 GB, 2199023254528 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 267349 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000

Disk /dev/sdb doesn't contain a valid partition table

So far, so good.

However, when I run cfdisk /dev/sdb, the size chosen as default is 9993.72 MB.

Thoughts? Advice?

EDIT to add:

FWIW, I installed mdadm on the virtual appliance and made a software RAID6 with 9 512MB virtual disks.

Interestingly, after creating an ext4 file system on the RAID, cfdisk reported the disk size as 3.5TB. RAID is mounted and working fine.

Question remains though -- why was it reporting the 2GB disk incorrectly in the first place?
