"USE AT YOUR OWN RISK" - this is not supported by Kerio!

Because of a small installation I was looking for a way to install Kerio Control on a USB Flash Drive.

Problem:
Kerio Control will not install on a removable device.

Idea:
Trick the Installer

HowTo:
1. Get yourself a lexar USB Flash drive or a USB Flash drive which is compatible with the lexar_usb_tool (BootIt.exe) (4GB and bigger) - before buying something I'd test all the lying-around-USB-Drives
2. search in google for "lexar bootit.exe" and find a download site (it's no longer available from lexar, but it is out there a lot). Latest Version is: 1.07
3. Flip the "Removable Bit" with this tool
4. Now you can install Control on this USB Drive

(Tested with 8.0 and 8.1)

Let's say you get the installation done, but you need a faster flash drive and you don't have a faster LEXAR USB Drive.

Solution: Just clone the USB Stick with "dd". (On the new stick you don't need to flip the "removable bit" - only the installer is sensitive)

Have fun

Hey Man,

thanks for idea. I try following:
1. Setup Kerio Control in Virtual Box
2. Try to clone disk to CF Card
3. System with CF Card is not booting

Any idea if I can do "dd" with some live Linux?

Thanks for idea!

Hi sfhn,

Thanks a lot for the method! Question: how the pendrive works after two years? Is not it worn out?
