On our Kerio Connect 8.1.0 server we had a user who has a 4GB storage quota, but used 33.6GB.

The unwanted growth and breach of storage quota was caused by a Apple Mail client with IMAP who was uploading deleted items again and again (31 times per e-mail). Reindexing the users mailbox did not help.

The following lines showed in the Error log:
[29/Jul/2013 10:26:24] MessageFolder.cpp: Bad UIDNEXT in folder ~user<_at_>xxxxxxxxxx.com/Deleted Items incremented: 00042204 -> 00042205, 15 retries remaining

My question is:
How is it possible that the user account can grow larger than the given storage quota?

Unfortunately I am not able to create a similar scenario and test it because this was caused by strange Apple Mail behavior.
