Hi guys,

we are providing two Kerio Connect 8.1.3 systems with the same backup settings. However, one of them behaves very strangely.
Every day after the differential backup job Kerio deletes all files of the last differential backup.

debug log:
[19/Sep/2013 04:06:44][29018] {backup} Backup rotation: Deleting backup file /opt/kerio/backup//D20130918T010008Z.zip

1. "Count of complete backups to be kept = 7"
2. mailserver.cfg:
<variable name="RotationLimit">7</variable>
<variable name="RemoveOldDiffBackups">1</variable>
3. Kerio system was rebooted already
4. Backup volume has enough free space

What does this parameter effects: "RemoveOldDiffBackups"? The second Kerio system is also configured with value "1" but all differential backup files of the last six jobs are always available.

Any ideas?

Thanks very much and best regards,
Christian

Hi,

If you stop the Kerio Connect server, then edit mailserver.cfg to read:

<variable name="RemoveOldDiffBackups">0</variable>

Save and restart, that should stop Kerio from removing the differential backups until they are over 7 days old.

If that doesn't work, I suggest that you raise a support ticket including copies of mailserver.cfg from both servers, clearly marking which is which!

Best regards,

Neil.

Please note that editing any cfg files should be done with extreme care; having taken a full backup first - and with Kerio Connect stopped.

i've done changes on cfg file already. It seems to work. The Kerio systems preserves the last three differential backup files until now.

Thanks for your reply.

Best regards,
Christian
