The BindIP option appears to work for domains but not for messages created by the server. These messages include status like "delayed" or "bounced" and also for forwarded messages.

Here is a previous message thread about this topic:

http://forums.kerio.com/t/17104/bind-ip-to-outgoing-smtp

An example of the problem:

1. The server has 2 IP addresses, X.X.X.1 and X.X.X.2 where X.X.X.1 is the first IP on the server.
2. It is intended that the mail server run on X.X.X.2 and that all email be sent from X.X.X.2
3. For every BindIP setting in the mailserver.cfg file, X.X.X.2 is used.
4. For normal messages, X.X.X.2 is used
5. For bounce messages, X.X.X.1 is used

Can someone confirm that this is the way Connect works and that it is intentional?

Is there any way to bind to a specific IP for status and forwarded messages?

Thanks,

Will Mayall

Hi Will,

In mailserver.cfg, in the "Misc" table, there is a "BindIP" variable name. What IP address do you have configured there?

In the same mailserver.cfg, for each domain definition (list name="Domain"), there is a "BindIp". These are the variables that you have set to x.x.x.2, correct?

Ernesto,

Correct, every BindIP variable is set to the second IP, in this example, X.X.X.2. This includes each BindIP variable for the domains and also for the Misc table.

The only other BindIP option I can see is a variable called ClientUseDomainBindIp which is set to 1.

Thanks,

Will Mayall
