I'm considering migrating to operator and the fax server support intrigues me, but I have a capabilities question.

I'm currently using analog ports off a PBX to a modem based fax server (hylafax+) and have a customized receive script on the main general fax number. this does a database lookup in our crm system to see if the callerid is associated with any customers, and if so forwards the fax as a pdf to the customer's assigned representative.

Would I be able to do something similar with Operator without using analog modems? Or would I need to deliver to a special email and have an external process monitor the mailbox and parse the fax emails and forward them?

Hi,

Operator currently does not support scripts that query an external database. So the latter solution you describe (monitoring the mailbox) would be the way.
