Has anyone upgraded from version 7.4.2 to 8.2? I want to make sure there are no "gotchas" before I do this. I've tested the upgrade but it's hard without users to hammer away at it.

Thanks

Had the latest 7.x.x version running and updated to 8.2 last sunday. Worked very well for me - no problems. OSX 10.7.5 machine btw....
I didn't use calendars & contact syncing so far... here are some changes and some re-work to do when I remember the latest update postings here in the board.

Here is the process we used going from 7.4.2 --> 8.2.0
It's worthy to note our ETRN isn't working anymore. Backup MX services are down since the upgrade 2 weeks ago.

Run Full Backup
Upgrade to 7.4.3 Patch 1
Upgrade to 8.1.3
Wait for DB Conversion
Run Full Backup
Upgrade to 8.2.0
Reconnect users in phases

I didn't do the 8.1.3 step - the DB conversion for my about 90 users took 10 minutes or smth like that. i5 Server with 8GB RAM & SSD for all the files.... During this time the server just wasn't reachable at all but the kerio process worked in the background. Backup of course - that's something you always have to do.

Hi Perennialdesign,

I believe there was a problem with your MX records which caused the ETRN failure. This was handled by us yesterday on a Support Ticket.

Best regards,

Neil.

You are correct. It's still important to note this problem did not occur in 7.4.2 due to the way Backup MX records were interpreted, correct?
The change occurred in version 8. Bottom line - make sure your Backup MX entries are consolidated if they have changed over the years.

My understanding is that error reporting became more detailed in v8.

But yes, you're exactly right - make sure your MX records are correct.

MXToolbox is a good place to start.

Neil,

Could you please confirm that we dont need to do the 8.1.3 step during the process?

I will update my Kerio from 7.4.2 to 8.2 next Tuesday and I found this thread is really useful.

Thanks

When 8.2 first came out we were recommending going to 8.1.3 as an intermediate step, purely as a precaution; but we've had plenty of reports of users going straight from 7.4.3 to 8.2 without any issues, so you should be OK.

I'm really glad you found this thread useful.

Best regards,

Neil.

I find it very interesting there are a few businesses still on 7.4.2? I thought we were the only ones.
I'm rolling out 8.2.0 on our primary Kerio server tomorrow due to relatively smooth transition to 8.2.0 on our secondary server 2 weeks ago. Fingers crossed. Our mailstore is nearly 400GB on the primary.

I was sick of *manual* updating the KOC for our WinXP machines so I decided to skip several updates. We've got about 300-400GB Mailstore as well, around 90 users... update from 7.x.x (latest 7'er version) went smooth for me directly to 8.2!

The advent of iOS7 seems to be acting as the catalyst for many users to finally upgrade.

Out IOS7 devices worked with the Kerio 7.x.x version - after upgrading from ios6 to ios7 and even with setting up new devices and then installing the connection profile. We're using only eMails so far - no cal and carddav.

Is there any step-by-step guide/document to do this upgrade? Or just double click the upgrade package and then cross the fingers? My kerio is running on Windows 2008 server R2.
