Hi
I have a 7.1.1 kerio mail server running on windows server 2003.
I would like to move it to a Virtual Appliance ( Kerio 8.2.1)

Can I just restore a full 7.1.1 Backup ( is it going to work ? )
or i have to do everything from scratch.

What about user mailboxes ???

Thank You in Advance

I would recommend upgrading the Windows server to Ver 8.2.1 first, then migrate the message store using the built-in backup & KMSRECOVER. Remember that KMS recover will clobber the server.cfg file,so make a copy on the Linux side before doing the restore.

Also, my experience with KMSRecover has been mixed at best. I recommend that you make 2 separate backups of the mail store. KMSRecover will sometimes get halfway through the restore, declare a backup file corrupt, and stop dead in it's tacks.

Good is better than evil because it's nicer

Thank you for your quick reply

My restore went OK.
From the linux i can see all folders etc.
However when I try to access the mail via web i get the following error

"unable to open folder"

For some reason whatever i did cannot be read.

Thank you

Check the error log on the server and make sure that proper license is installed in the product.

Trial version cannot use data from licensed version. You need to provide a normal license for VM appliance if you want to work with emails from backup.

You can ask our technical support for 30-day license file.
