We're running KMS 7.4.1 (400 users) and due to size limitations, we migrated our mailstore from a local disk to an NFS mount.
The NFS mount target is a NAS and so far we haven't noticed any performance issues. None observed and none reported by the userbase. What we are seeing though is an event cropping up in the warning logs:
[02/Dec/2013 10:58:23] WARNING Reindex fulltext database, user: keriodb://user/{USER UUID GOES HERE} (IndexingService.run): index.api.exception.IndexIntegrityCorrupted: File .nfs0000000000ce2f52000caddb is not lucene database file./index.db.SafeDirectory.integrityCheck(SafeDirectory:229)/index.impl.DirectoryFactory.getDirectory(DirectoryFactory:25)/index.impl.IndexerImpl.<init>(IndexerImpl:50)/index.impl.IndexFactoryImpl.createIndexer(IndexFactoryImpl:69)/index.impl.IndexCacheImpl.openIndexer(IndexCacheImpl:108)/services.IndexingService.run(IndexingService:549)/Th

We see about 1 entry every 5-15 minutes. Our suspicion is that the Indexing service doesn't like to run over NFS. We didn't see this warning prior to cutting over to NFS.

What we'd like to know is if this warning is something addressed in a more recent version of Kerio, or if we need to look at changing our mounting strategies from NFS to something like iSCSI.

That warning is an indication that something terribly wrong could happen to your data. NFS or other network filesystems are not supported. Message store directory and archive directory must be on a local filesystem to prevent data corruption.
Please use a local filesystem such as ext3 or ext4.

Hi Pavel,

Thanks for the note there. We appreciate the heads up. We'll be moving data back to a local disk. In the meantime, since moving to NFS, we noticed occasional times where the mailserver load shoots up from about 20% CPU usage to 250-350%. Is this behaviour known to be related to the warnings mentioned above?

Thanks
